Japan’s Fast Retailing joins new Pakistan Accord for worker safety

Fast Retailing has announced its support for the Pakistan Accord. This legally binding agreement, developed through collaboration between brands and unions, aims to provide increased safety measures for vulnerable manufacturing workers in Pakistan.

As an early signatory to the Pakistan Accord, Fast Retailing underlines its commitment to ensuring worker health and safety at the facilities of its production partners, the company said in a press release.

Japan’s Fast Retailing has expressed its support for the Pakistan Accord, a legally binding agreement aimed at enhancing safety for manufacturing workers in Pakistan.
The company’s early endorsement emphasises its commitment to worker health and safety.
The agreement will remain in effect until the end of 2025, with the possibility of renewal.

Yukihiro Nitta, group executive officer responsible for sustainability at Fast Retailing, said, “Much like the International Accord on which it is based, we believe the Pakistan Accord will also deliver important safety standards to help protect the people who make our clothes. Fast Retailing is pleased to support the Pakistan Accord and to continue making workplaces safer.”

The Pakistan Accord will be in place until the end of 2025, with the prospect of renewal thereafter.
