Egypt has exported leather and leather products worth $70.47 million during the first 10 months of 2021—a 63 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase from $43.22 million in January-October 2020, according to the Leather Export Council of Egypt (LEC). In October alone, leather exports soared by 55.8 per cent YoY to $7.11 million from $4.57 million in October 2020.
The leather industry recorded the highest growth in exports last August, with a jump of 194.3 per cent to $8.5 million compared to $2.8 million in August 2020, according to an Egyptian English-language daily report.
LEC aims to achieve an annual increase of 73 per cent in exports to $90 million by the end of the year compared with $53 million in 2020.
