Dutch inflation rate 14.3% in Oct 2022; upward effect of clothing

The Dutch consumer price index was 14.3 per cent higher in October than in the same month last year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). In September, the inflation rate in the country stood at 14.5 per cent. The price development of energy had a downward effect on inflation, while food and clothing had an upward effect, the government agency said.

Excluding energy and motor fuels, inflation would have increased from 6.5 per cent in September to 6.9 per cent in October, it reported.

The price development of energy had a downward effect on inflation, while food and clothing had an upward effect, the government agency said.

Prices of clothing were 9.4 per cent up year on year in October; in September, the increase was 8 per cent.

In October, energy was 173 per cent more expensive than a year earlier. In September, the year-on-year increase amounted to 200 per cent.
