Hollywood and fashion bigwigs pulled out all the stops with magnificent gowns and dazzling jewels at the red-carpet event of Cannes Film Festival 2023 held at the French Riviera, France. The event, which started from May 16, 2023, will continue until May 27. Among several celebrities that graced the event included the likes of Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, Naomi Campbell, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Charlotte Casiraghi.

Holding centre-stage was Brie Larson, Marvel actor and part of this year’s distinguished jury panel, swathed in a voluminous gold silk gown with an embroidered V-neck top. The garment, first showcased on Chanel’s Resort 2024 catwalk, signalled her allegiance to the brand under her ambassadorship contract, according to media reports.

Cannes Film Festival 2023 saw celebrities including Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, and Naomi Campbell showcasing stunning fashion.
Larson dazzled in a Chanel gown, while Campbell channeled old Hollywood glamour in a sequined Celine gown.
Indian stars, including Sara Ali Khan in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Esha Gupta in Nicholas Jebran, also graced the event.

The evergreen Helen Mirren made quite a statement by colouring her hair in various shades of blue to complement her silk Del Core gown. Elle Fanning, on the other hand, turned heads with an Alexander McQueen dress, complete with a silver beaded bodice and a pale pink tulle train embellished with diamantes.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell channelled the old Hollywood glamour in a sequined Celine gown, bedecked with diamond cuffs from Chopard, and quirky white sunglasses. Not far behind was Alessandra Ambrosio, the Brazilian former Victoria’s Secret model, in a vintage Elie Saab Couture from the Autumn/Winter 2005 collection.

The Welsh screen icon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, donned a sweeping red and fuschia ombre Elie Saab gown from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Elsewhere, Uma Thurman made a stunning appearance in a blush pink Dior gown, paired with a scarlet opera coat and Chopard jewellery.

Monaco royal, Charlotte Casiraghi, chose to grace the dinner in Chanel couture while French filmmaker Julia Ducournau donned a voluminous, textured Givenchy creation.

In a parade of glittering stars, including Gong Li, Catherine Deneuve, and Pom Klementieff, the opening ceremony of the 76th Cannes Film Festival shone bright. Victoria Silvstedt and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing also graced the premiere of ‘Jeanne du Barry’ in a tiered butter-yellow gown and a Christopher Bu tiger print gown, respectively.

French model Cindy Bruna looked magnificent in an oversized glen check suit with ruffle detail, offset by a Pomellato necklace.

Quite a few Indian celebrities also made their mark at the global extravaganza with their sartorial choices.

Sara Ali Khan honoured her heritage at her Cannes Film Festival debut, wearing an intricately hand-embroidered ivory and beige lehenga from designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.

In her first Cannes appearance, Esha Gupta chose an elegant and sensual white Nicholas Jebran gown, tastefully cinched at the waist.

Manushi Chhillar, sporting a white strapless Fovari gown, paired her outfit with a diamond and emerald necklace from Renu Oberoi, enhancing her overall look.

Former Miss Universe, Urvashi Rautela, didn’t shy away from making a statement in a striking pink tulle gown, topping her ensemble off with a voluminous top knot.
